888 Poker Ashes 2009

So I read recently about the 2009 Poker Ashes sponsored by 888 Poker. It is a pretty interesting how they are going to have cricketers playing poker against each other and that 2 lucky Online poker players are going to get to join them at the Poker Ashes final table. They can qualify online for free! One player for England’s team and one to join Shane Warne and the Australian cricketers. That must be some rivalry seeing how they can’t even keep it on the cricket field! I wouldn’t mind winning the online championship either, its an all expense paid trip to England this year, plus the Poker ashes final table is going to be televised! I think its like a 5 test series thing that they are going to show later on in the year. Oh well just thought I would tell who ever reads this about it!
here is the website for more information if anyone is interested www.pokerashes.com

888 poker 100k Deepstack weekly

Once a Week 888 poker has a $100,000 guaranteed deepstack tournament that about on average 700 players take part in. First place takes home 20,000 and i forget how many places it pays out. The only problem with the 888Poker tournament is that it goes by american time and so if i want to play in the online poker tournament i have to wake up at 7 a.m. here in australia! this usually isnt a problem, but this week it was! i completely spaced on the tournament and didnt log in until around 9am. I still had some chips left.. maybe around 2400 but the blinds were 400/800 and everyone at my table had from 50k to almsost 100k in chips. it was pretty much a lost cause but i thought maybe i would catch a break.. i was eventually dealt Ak which i immediatly moved all in and was only called by one person. To bad that person had a pocket 8's though! the flop turn card and river gave me nothing. in turn giving him the last of my chips.. Just goes to show you to make sure you set your alarm! Oh well 888 Poker has this Online Poker tournament weekly so ill just have to try again! but it ends on march 29th so i dont have much time!

Another Day of PokerStars

So i was playing some Online Poker the other night as i often do on Pokerstars when i decided to register for a $11 NL Hold'em tournament consisting of 180 players. Now this tournament has a prize pool of $1800 and pays the top 18 places with $540 going to first!! With such large amounts of money up for grabs with such a small investment i was readdy to play some texas hold'em and win! But if only it was that easy... The Poker stars tournament started off fairly slow with me picking up a few small pots here and there. It wasnt until their was about 55 players left that it started to rain on my poker winning parade. I had bet 15000 preflop with Ah Kh and and 2 people had called. The flop Comes Ac Kd 10c. My frst thought to myself was alright! 2 pairs i cant lose! so i check letting them think i didnt hit what i was looking for and sure enough the next guy bets another 15000 which gets called by the 3rd guy in the hand and myself. The River comes Qc. The action was on me so i knew sure enough that even if one of them did have A Q it would lose to my 2 pairs of A K and moved all in... The other 2 players were soon to call, forcing us to turn over are cards and wait for the river. As i saw what i was up against i was in good position with One guy holding Kc and 10h and the other sporting Ad and Ks. now this wasnt to bad seeing how the i would at least have a split pot with the other A K. All it really depended on was the river.... And just as my luck has it the River came.. 2c. leaving me and the other A K high and dry and out of the tournament because the K10 hit his flush... Dont you just Love Poker!? ha well it will be awhile before you see me on Pokerstars again. ive had my fill with texas hold'em for awhile!
